Yuting Zhu, Flo
Flo Yuting Zhu (b. 1997) is a mixed media performance and film artist born in Shanghai and currently based in London. Her work explores the interplay of absence and presence through moving images, computer algorithms, and site-specific actions. Her practice focuses on the layered dynamics between the 'witnessing' and the 'witnessed', often subverting popular art forms such as vlogs, livestreams, street games, and homemade horror films.
Her creative process is rooted in found materials and generative responses, often developed in real-time collaboration with her co-creators—sometimes human, sometimes machine. Across all mediums, she values the emergent, the liminal, and the instantaneous.
Her work has been featured in notable festivals and exhibitions, including Wuzhen Fringe Festival (2019), Now Play This at Somerset House (2022), Spectacle for Later at Rio Cinema (2022), Sysco's Creative AI Challenge at Outernet (2023), and the London Short Film Festival (2024). She is also a recipient of the Jamie Iddon Award from Blast Theory (2023) and a DYCP grant from Arts Council England (2024).
