False Witness
False Witness
Synopsis
False Witness is an imitation of found-footage horror that indulges in the haunting lure of mystification, appropriation, and abstraction of analogue media by technologies through layers of processed footage, portraying a presence of the absence. Following the investigation of 'my own disappearance', the diary film blends wildlife trail cams, AI forgeries, and dreamlike nigh-vision footage, building a narrative that evolves from a constant flux. Throughout the experience, the off-screen gaze from the audience makes them complicit witnesses, forming a temporary allegiance with 'me' during the making of a false alibi.
