In order to gather perspectives from across the entire university community and to facilitate participation in developing the Plan, various online participation mechanisms were set up. Aside from Twitter #futurUPF and a suggestions box, the following were provided:

  • The Bank of Innovative Ideas: a platform for sharing future proposals for our university. Users could assess a series of innovative experiences put into practice by universities from around the world, as well as put forward their own proposals and assess those of other members of the community.
  • Feedback on Documents: through this platform users had access to the different working papers and specific reports that were drafted by different departments and services of UPF to provide a context for the debate surrounding the Plan.
  • University Senate Debates: a space for debate where the draft of UPF’s new Strategic Plan was made available to the whole community, before being approved. The text was based on the five reports provided by the working groups, as well as inputs generated from the different participation mechanisms. The users could consult the document and make comments or suggestions for improvements which could contribute to enriching the text or developing the goals and strategies proposed. Subsequently, taking all contributions into consideration, the Board of Management undertook a final revision of the document to then present it to the University’s Board of Governors.

Working Papers and Specific Reports

The working paper Towards a New Strategic Plan, drafted by the Plan’s management team, offers a panoramic viewpoint of UPF divided into seven fundamental strategic areas. In the context of the participative process for drafting the new Plan, this document was proposed to offer an initial overview for opening the debate, with the aim of identifying the main challenges that the University is facing, their present strengths and weaknesses, as well as determine their opportunities and threats.

  • Specific Reports

These documents offer a view of UPF in 2015 and the improvements it has experienced in various areas of activity. An extensive selection of comparative data was made available to the whole university community, with analysis and reflections on teaching, professional integration, research, human resources and rankings, among other areas.
