The Spanish Government's Large Company Unit (UGE), which is based in Madrid, is responsible for processing and making decisions regarding applications for permits envisaged under the law in question.

Such permits may be requested for teaching and research staff of any grade. A joint application must be made if you will be accompanied by your family (spouse and/or children).

 

Requirements

  • You must not be present in Spanish territory irregularly
  • You must not have a criminal record in Spain or any other country in which you have lived in the last five years. The corresponding certificate is not required if you already have a study permit or any other permit entitling you to residence.
  • You must have public or private health insurance (this requirement will be met when UPF registers you with the social security system).
  • You must have sufficient economic resources for yourself and your family. This can be accredited by means of your contract.

 

Procedure

  • UPF's Teaching and Research Staff Service will sumbit your application via a registry or a post office.
  • A decision will be made in approximately four to six weeks.
  • If you do not live in Spain, you will be sent the documentation necessary to apply for a residence visa. In such cases, you must provide criminal record details and a medical certificate.
  • Once you have it, it must be necessary to apply for the TIE (foreing identification card).
