Garbell is an analyzer of the dictionariability of Catalan neologisms. Like any sieve, it separates the grain from the chaff: the grain are the appropriate, well-formed, stable in use, frequent and necessary neologisms, that is, the neologisms that are more suitable to be incorporated into the dictionary, from the whole set of new words that appear in oral and written uses in Catalan. And the chaff are the ephemeral, local, inadequate and unstabilized neologisms that are not good candidates for the dictionary. Garbell has been a project funded by the Institute of Catalan Studies (IEC) during the period 2018-2021 and has been developed by researchers from the Observatori de Neologia.
