The project tries to clarify the heritage of F. W. J. Schelling's thought in the work of S. Kierkegaard. In historiography it has been considered that this heritage is limited to the years of Berlin (1841-1842), where the late Schelling would offer the necessary elements to Kierkegaard for his anti-Hegelian criticism. We intend to show that Schelling's imprint is much deeper and we will focus on the impact of the doctrine on freedom and the origin of the world from desire, of Schelling's middle philosophy, which are decisive for the dialectic of desire presented in O the one or the other; and, above all, the analysis of the vertigo of freedom in the face of nothingness that will determine the whole development of The Concept of Anguish and The Mortal Disease.

We believe that in this way it will be possible to influence the "true genesis" of the concept of anguish that comes through Kierkegaard to the contemporary world, in authors like the Heidegger of Being and Time, or the Sartre of Being and Nothingness.
