Flipped classroom
Teaching methodology in which the student studies at home before the class and takes advantage of the class situation to consolidate the knowledge learnt through practical examples and activities. The traditional class format in which the teacher explains the theory to the class and practical exercises are done at home without help is therefore ‘flipped’ or inverted.
How does it work?
It represents a change to the habitual university teaching style. The student prepares for the class at home, using readings and videos to assist comprehension and memorisation of knowledge. In class, together with the teacher, doubts are resolved and knowledge is applied.
Phases or Stages:
- Individual student work outside the classroom
- The concepts studied at home are put into practice in the classroom
- Learning assessment
- Come with teaching-learning methodologies. Video where Antoni Luna, professor of the Department of Humanities, tells us about his experience teaching flipped classroom.
