Giovanna Arenare initially graduated in Philology and Languages ​​-English and French- from the University of Pavia (Italy). Later, with a scholarship from the same University, she obtained her Master of Studies in Research Methods in Modern Languages at the University of Oxford, with maximum distinction. At the same time, she taught Italian as a foreign language at the Linguistic Center of this institution.

Since 2004 she has been a tenured teacher in the Italian public school system and has many years of experience teaching EFL (and Italian as a foreign language for migrant students) in secondary schools.

She is currently a PhD student in Translation and Language Sciences (UPF) with funding from the Italian Ministry of Education. Within this framework, she carries out her research on the possible impact of Romance Intercomprehension on the teaching / learning of EFL in the school context, under the direction of Drs. Carmen López Ferrero (UPF) and Encarni Carrasco Perea (UB).
