Aina Obis has a degree in Translation and Interpreting (2012) at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, Master’s degree in Theoretical and Applied Linguistics (2013) at the same university, and PhD in Translation and Language Sciences from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (2018, qualification: Excellent cum laude). Currently, she teaches at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra and at the University of Barcelona, as a Catalan language teacher.

She is a member of the research group GR@EL and is currently part of two competitive projects founded by Spanish government: ICUDEL15 and ECODAL. Her research comprises not only the field of translation, but also language learning and teaching, notably students' metalinguistic reflection of discourse concepts. Her dissertation about learning of discourse markers in higher education has obtained the qualification of Excellent cum laude (June 1, 2018), under the supervision of Dr. Carme Bach and M. Dolors Cañada. His research is about applied linguistics, language learning and teaching, metalinguistic reflection, metacognitive learning skills, concept- based learning, discourse analysis, and discourse markers.
