Marta García-Balsas holds a degree in Translation and Interpreting (2010) and Journalism (2012) from the University of Murcia. She has a Master's Degree in Secondary School Teacher Training in Spanish Language and Literature from the University of Barcelona (2013) and a PhD in Translation and Language Sciences from Pompeu Fabra University (2018). She has been a Spanish teacher at the University of Sydney (Australia); has worked at Nebrija University on the IN.MIGRA-3CM project and has taught at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.

She is currently an associate lecturer at the University of Barcelona and a collaborator on the Master's degree in ELE teacher training at the European University. Since 2011, she has participated as an accredited examiner in the DELE certifications of the Instituto Cervantes.

Her main research interests are the development of interculturality in Spanish as an additional language classroom and discourse analysis, especially the teaching and evaluation of oral and written argumentation.
