On January 13 in Barcelona it was held the second edition of the Extraordinary Award for Future Lawyers of Barcelona, ​​which is an initiative of the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB), the Young Law Group of Barcelona. (GAJ Barcelona) and the Lawyers Alter Mútua.

This Award welcomes new lawyers to the institution representing the profession, and rewards the effort, vocation and excellence of law students on their path to accessing the legal profession. The Prize is composed of membership fees and a one-year fee to the ICAB and Alter Mútua, as well as a financial endowment. Finalists also receive a grant of 50% of the tuition fees of ICAB in the first year and the first year membership at Alter Mútua.

The event was inaugurated by Maria Eugènia Gay, dean of the ICAB, followed by the president of Alter Mutua, José-Félix Alonso-Cuevillas, and up next was Albert Jané, president of the GAJ Barcelona. The event was closed by Joaquim Clavaguera, General Secretary of Justice of the Generalitat de Catalunya.

The different members of the jury highlighted the high quality of the works as well as the difficulty of deciding the winners and finalists. The awarded students of Pompeu Fabra University were the following:

Beatriz García Quiroga, awarded for Best Final Master's Thesis in Administrative Law

Melanie Barba Santisteban, finalist for the Best Qualification for Access to the Legal Profession

Marta Soria Heredia, finalist for the Best Academic Career

Albert Alcaraz Iranzo, finalist for the Best Final Master's Thesis in Criminal Law
