Oriol Amat, rector of UPF, stated that “signing a chair is one of the pleasant news of the year. The university's mission is to positively impact society and we have a lot of ground to run. Today's example, renewing a chair with a lot of knowledge transfer production, helps us to improve in that mission ”.

For his part, Antoni Gutiérrez-Rubí has assured that "in ideogram we are convinced of the need to improve the relationship between the professional and academic world. And this chair is one more step in the task that we carry out in this regard". In addition, he added that "one of the new challenges that arise is the internationalization of the chair, both in the field of research and in the transfer of knowledge."

A productive collaboration

The Chair, created in September 2018, has been constantly active in the area of research and knowledge transfer in society. [see Chair's projects]

In the field of research, a line of research focused on informative credibility has been created, from which various studies and published articles have been derived. This past year, research on credibility has been linked to the issue of Covid-19 and its relationship with citizen misinformation. One of the published articles, “Perceived Credibility of Tweets by Opinion Leaders During the COVID-19 Pandemic in Spain”, has been selected as one of the ten best Political Communication articles of the year by La Revista ACOP (Asociación de Comunicación Política).

In the field of promoting transfer, the Ideograma-UPF Chair Award for the best Final Master's Project in the field of political and institutional communication has been created, endowed with 1,750 euros. The Documentation Center on Political Communication and Democracy has also been launched, a library specialized in political communication, political marketing and electoral campaigns with the aim of helping the entire academic community interested in this field of study.

It is also worth highlighting the two publications of an informative nature that have been made in recent years: Comunicación Política en tiempos de coronavirus and Instagram en la estrategia de la construcción de liderazgo político. Both publications are choral in nature and have the participation of both professionals from the world of political communication and researchers from the same field.
