I am an associate professor at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF). I earned my PhD from Universidad Complutense (Madrid) in 2005, with the doctoral dissertation Partidos y representación política: Las dimensiones del cambio en los partidos políticos españoles. During the 2006-2007 academic year I was Visiting Research Fellow at the University of Sussex. I have worked as a senior analyst at the Centre d'Estudis d'Opinió (CEO) de la Generalitat de Catalunya in the period 2007-2010.
My main areas of research are political representation, gender and politics, and political parties. In fact, these research areas very often overlap. For example, in my research I explore how candidate selection processes, the adoption and implementation of quotas, and the prevalence of gender-biased informal institutions hinders women's participation within political parties. I also analyze the interaction between multi-level systems and party organization as well as parties-interest groups relationships.
I was the local organizer of the 3rd European Conference on Politics and Gender, organized by the ECPR Standing Group on Politics and Gender, which brought together more than 500 participants from around the world. Currently, I am the director of the Equality Unit at the UPF.
