Events & Activities
The SPTG organizes both fixed and ad-hoc activities every year. The four fixed activities are:
1. Yearly Inaugural Lecture: This lecture marks the beginning of the academic year, often featuring a distinguished speaker who provides insights on relevant topics in the field of social and political theory.
2. Yearly Seminar Series with invited guests: This series invites renowned scholars to deliver talks, fostering intellectual exchange and providing opportunities for participants to engage with cutting-edge research in the field.
3. PhD Work-in-Progress Workshop: Held annually at the end of April or beginning of May, this informal one-day workshop aims to help doctoral students improve their PhD proposals or papers through peer feedback and guidance.
4. The Barcelona Social and Political Theory Seminar: This seminar, held every June, invites doctoral candidates, postdocs, and professors from Catalan universities to present their research, with the location rotating each year to promote collaboration between different academic institutions.
Finally, the SGRT also co-organizes every year activities in collaboration with the Barcelona Network for Critical Thought and Social Research (https://barcelonacritique.net
