We are glad to invite you to the second edition of the introductory course of Linux, Bash, Marvin and Slurm. After the attendant's feedback from the first edition, we have decided to split the course into 2 sessions: one for Linux and Bash introduction, and the other for Marvin and Slurm introduction.
 
Day 1. 22/11/2018. 10h. Classroom: 61.202 . Registration Form
Introduction to Linux and Bash
Oriented to users with no experience in the use of Linux, the Shell and command line utilities.
Prerequisites: None
Main topics:
1. Introduction
2. Command line utilities (grep,find,awk,sed)
3. Bash programming
4. The text editor: Vi
5. Compression
6. Back up
 
Day 2. 29/11/2018. 10h. Classroom: 61.103Registration Form
Introduction to Marvin and Slurm
Oriented to users with experience in the use of Linux, the Shell and command line utilities, and with little or no knowledge of the Marvin cluster and the Slurm queuing system for submitting jobs.
Prerequisites: basic knowledge of Linux and Bash, or have attended to the previous course Introduction to Linux and Bash.

Both courses will have a duration of approximately 3 hours (theoretical-practical course plus questions&answers)
We recommend to bring your own laptop, however if it's not possible, specify it in the form and we will find a solution.
We designed those courses with a capacity up to 20 users, if the number of inscriptions is greater we will schedule another day. Users that were unable to attend the previous course because it was full, now have a preferred position to join both courses, but it is mandatory to fill in the corresponding form.
