Javier trained as a lab technician in vocational school in Barcelona, and started work as part time support technician of the UPF proteomics facility in 2005, where he was first introduced to peptide chemistry. In parallel, he worked hard to complete the course credits required for a degree in chemistry at the University of Barcelona and, since 2011, is in charge of daily facility operations.
