Welcome to my webpage!
I am an Assistant Professor at Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona, in the Wireless & Secure Communications Group, and the Head of the Telecommunications Engineering program. I was previously with Nokia Bell Labs and received my Ph.D. from UNSW Sydney. I also worked at the Singapore University of Technology and Design, The University of Texas at Austin, CentraleSupelec, and Alcatel-Lucent. All along, I have been inspired by great mentors and colleagues.
I am deeply involved in the IEEE community, serving as a Distinguished Lecturer of the IEEE ComSoc and IEEE VTS, as an Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications and IEEE Communications Letters, and as a frequent workshop organizer. My recent focus has been on UAV communications, non-terrestrial networks, and next-generation WiFi. I like to share my research and have been delivering tutorials, industry seminars, and invited talks.
I like coffee, surprises, and living by the sea. Born and raised in Sicily, I have lived across six continents for work/love/adventure and I consider myself one of the luckiest people in the world.
