Welcome to my webpage!

I work at the intersection of AI/ML and wireless communications, with expertise spanning cellular (3GPP) and Wi‑Fi (IEEE 802.11). My experience covers standards, industrial R&D, academia, and the management of software development and research teams.

Industry

  • Representing Nokia in IEEE 802.11 standardization for next-generation Wi-Fi.
  • Led a global software development team supporting Nokia's 3GPP contributions on AI/ML in 6G.
  • Ex Telefónica; led research on data-driven RAN optimization and AI for radio digital twins.
  • Ex Bell Labs; developed 5G/WLAN multi-antenna algorithms; core contributor to new system-level simulator.

Academia

  • Tenured Professor; former Vice-Dean of Telecommunications Engineering; supervised 10+ researchers.
  • Principal investigator of 10+ externally funded research projects from competitive calls.
  • 100+ publications; two IEEE career awards; three IEEE best paper awards; three paper runner-up awards.
  • IEEE Distinguished Lecturer; 100+ keynotes and lectures; created IEEE course "Fundamentals of Wi-Fi".
  • Editor for three IEEE journals; on the organizing committee of 20+ IEEE conferences.

About Me

I am a husband and father, born and raised in Sicily. I have lived across six continents for work, love, and adventure. I feel lucky every day and would probably do this job for free.
