Internships
Curricular internships
Curricular internships offer the opportunity to earn academic credits (25 hours of internship = 1 credit)
- ICT Bachelor's Degrees:
· On the 3rd and 4th year you can do an optional internship (you can obtain -and enrol- from 1 to 15 credits).
- Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering:
· A compulsory 6-credit internship (code: 24051) is required in the 4th year.
· Optional internships are available in the 3rd and 4th years, with students able to earn and enroll between 1 to 9 credits.
Extracurricular internships
Extracurricular internships do not grant academic credits. These voluntary internships can be undertaken throughout the degree program. While not part of the curriculum, they provide valuable experience.
- Students must be enrolled in a university degree program during the internship year in order to be able to do an extracurricular internship.
I have a job contract, can I recognize some credits?
The knowledge associated with previous professional experience may be recognized, with the authorization of the internship tutor, provided that it corresponds to what is foreseen in the curriculum or has a transversal nature, and up to a maximum of 15 credits.
For professional experience carried out while you are completing your bachelor’s degree, you must be enrolled in the 3rd or 4th year at the time you undertake this professional experience. In the case of the recognition of the compulsory internship subject in Biomedical Engineering, you must be enrolled in the 4th year while completing this professional experience.
These credits will be included in the academic record as recognized credits (without a grade) and will not count towards the calculation of the grade point average.
The procedure for having these credits recognized must be completed through an application submitted via the electronic portal. You must attach:
- The employment contract or the employment history report (vida laboral)
- The internship report, following the established template
- The completed evaluation report, signed and stamped by the company
