Rebecca Borges
Postdoctoral researcher
Rebecca is responsible for the database management and the spatial analyses of the project. She is a Brazilian-German. Rebecca holds a PhD in marine ecology obtained at the Leibniz Institute for Tropical Marine Research (ZMT), in Bremen, Germany, in collaboration with the Federal University of Pará (UFPA), Bragança, Pará, Brasil.
Her work aims to bring together anti- and decolonial epistemologies and struggles related to conservation ethics and more-than-human relations. Her long-term research focuses on social-ecological systems, coastal-marine spatial planning, and knowledge exchange and coproduction. She investigates the governance of marine commons in the context of accentuating capitalist crises.

Claire Karaguesian
Research assistant
Claire Karaguesian is a Canadian Master's graduate in Sociology and Demography at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. She is part of the Johns Hopkins University - Universitat Pompeu Fabra Public Policy Center. She holds a BSc in kinesiology with a specialization in mental health, addiction, and society from McMaster University in Canada.
Claire received the McMaster Kinesiology Research Award for her research analyzing oral contraceptive's influence on fasting glucose and lipid levels. Some of her other research work includes contributions on metabolism, nutrition and physiology. She presented her various works at the Ontario Exercise Physiology Conferences. Claire also contributed to community-based research at McMaster University's Research Shop, helping organizations analyze accessibility gaps and barriers faced by marginalized residents in accessing social services to improve their services.
