Olusegun Israel Ogundeji is a PhD graduate from the communication department at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra working under Dr. Carles Roca Cuberes.

His PhD thesis title is: “Online discussion forum and political communication: Nairaland in Nigeria”. With the evidential uptake in the use of social media in Nigeria for political communication purposes, the study is focused on the growing significance of the country’s (and Africa’s) largest online discussion forum, Nairaland, in this regard even as the approximately 200 million population of Nigeria - the world’s most populous black nation - is projected to more than double by 2050.

Olusegun has a background in journalism, public policy and marketing. His main research interests centre around understanding the impact of social media use and emerging technologies on end users.
