On 6th October 2024, Núria Almiron presented, on behalf of herself and Laura Fernández, the paper "Manufactured compassion: SECAL, Vivotecnia and the Vivisection-Industrial Complex in Spain " at the 2024 Meeting of the International Association of Vegan Sociologists held online on 5-6 October 2024.

The presentation merged and summarised the discourse analysis of SECAL (Sociedad Española de las Ciencias del Animal de Laboratorio / Spanish Society for the Lab Animal Sciences) published by Núria Almiron, Laura Fernández and Miquel Rodrigo-Alsina, in Discourse Studies in early 2024, "Illusory authenticity: Negotiating compassion in animal experimentation discourse",  as well as Laura Fernández's research on SECAL visuals.
