Paola Lagos will present her book on David Perlov at the Filmoteca de Catalunya

Paola Lagos will present her book David Perlov. The Hinged Image as Interstitial Cinematic Thought on Tuesday, December 3, at 6:00 PM, at the Filmoteca de Catalunya. For the occasion, she will be joined by her colleague from the CINEMA group, Carolina Sourdis. The author introduces a series of analyses and reflections on the expressive resources of the Brazilian-Israeli artist, photographer, and filmmaker David Perlov, one of the first filmmakers to stand out in the field of cinematic diaries.
After the presentation, My Stills (1952-2002), the last of David Perlov's cinematic diaries, will be screened. Perlov's final work is based on his still photographs. It is structured as a triptych: the first part takes the viewer to the very roots of the image, the framing, the angle, the light, and the frozen movement of people, contemplating both still and cinematic photography. The second part revolves around three photographers he admired: David Seymour, Henri Lartigue, and Henri Roth. The third part is composed solely of still images taken by Perlov during the last two years of his life, always from the same location: the table where he had breakfast at a café in Tel Aviv.
