Next Monday, 13 October, at 7:15 p.m., Dr Manuela Penafría, researcher at the University of Beira Interior (UBI, Portugal), will deliver the lecture “Thinking and Practising Cinema: The Proposal of the Filmmakers’ Theory”.

Editor of the volume Filmmakers on Film: Global Perspectives, Dr Penafría will advocate for the thought and poetics of filmmakers as a legitimate theoretical space, capable of engaging in dialogue with the key concepts and issues of contemporary film theory.

Her proposal seeks to broaden the concept of “filmmaker” beyond the figure of the director, to include all those involved in the creative process of filmmaking who have developed original and thought-provoking reflections on the medium.

The lecture will take place in Room 54.0C09-10, at 7:15 p.m.
