27/05/24. Seminar "Rehearsing the real: forms and dissidence in contemporary documentary"

Dates: 27th May, from 9.30 to 19.30h
Location: Room 55.309. Campus Poblenou
The Joaquim Jordà Study Centre is organising a one-day research and reflection seminar on creative documentary and its drifts in the current context. Under the direction of Ana Aitana Fernández and the coordination of Josep Lambies, "Rehearsing the Real: Forms and Dissidence in Contemporary Documentary Film" will take place, taking up the baton from the seminar that, a year ago, reviewed the legacy and validity of Jordà's work, and proposes a space for meeting and debate between filmmakers and researchers to discuss the strategies of non-fiction film today. The main lines of this seminar are: the hybridisations between documentary and fiction; the creative processes of filmmakers and editors in the narrative construction of the real and the persistence and cracks of political activism in contemporary documentary. The programme is completed with the screening of three films that take the real as an object of analysis, but also as the raw material of a critical conscience that aims to shake up the spectator.
Students studying for a PhD in Communication at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra will be able to combine this activity as AF3 hours with the approval and at the discretion of the thesis supervisor.
