We are pleased to announce the international conference “Power and Care: Enactive Approaches and Critical Social Philosophy”, jointly organized by Mind & Life Europe and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona.

The conference will take place from 28 to 30 May 2026. It will bring together scholars, scientists, researchers, and professionals from various disciplines with the aim of fostering dialogue across the spaces of encounter and border between different fields of knowledge, with the intention of generating creative and original responses to the crises of power that shape our world today.

The meeting will propose a dialogue between the enactive approach, in its broadest sense, and critical social theory, with particular attention to the notions of power and care. In a context of accelerated social and ecological transformations, it becomes increasingly urgent to explore how enaction can contribute —and is already contributing— to the analysis of social and political issues, and how critical social thought can, in turn, enrich, expand, and ground enactive currents of thought.

The historical character of enaction, its condition as a critical response to dominant scientific paradigms, and its emphasis on the interrelation between perception, affect, cognition, and meaning provide fertile ground for dialogue with critical social theories, which focus on the situated and relational dimension of meaning within systems of power. The aim is for these two epistemological frameworks to illuminate one another and, through their interaction, help articulate more complex and, above all, more attentive and caring responses to the social, political, and ecological dilemmas of our time.
