Advanced segmentation techniques for micro-CT images of Trabecular Bone

The study of trabecular bone by means of micro-CT imaging technology is a common technique. After scanning, the micro-CT volume must be segmented. The performance of the segmentation is critical and yet understudied. It influences the calculation of morphometrical parameters and related effect on biomechanical analysis. Standard techniques can introduce errors up to 20%. Aim of this project will be to develop advanced innovative segmentation techniques for the analysis of trabecular bone biomechanics.
