Metamodeling of the Intervertebral Disc (IVD) Mechano-Transport response to mechanical stimuli

Previously, it has been observed how morphology influences the IVD mechano-transport response through a cohort of 169 patient-customized models with finite element (FE) simulations. Still, it is necessary to bring this FE approach closer to a clinical setting by accelerating the obtaining of individual patient results. The project consists of creating a metamodel through machine learning tools to predict the mechano-transport response obtained by simulation in the presence of different physiological loads. The candidate will have the support of the BCN MedTech research unit's biomechanics and mechanobiology team.
