Study trip of the chair of City Management and the ACM in Trondheim, Norway

the visit was organized by the UPF City Management Chair created by the Pompeu Fabra University and the ACM, with the aim of promoting analysis, research, transfer and dissemination of knowledge in the field of city management cities.

 October the 24th, 25th and 26th, the UPF City Management Chair team and a delegation from the Catalan Association of Municipalities and Counties (ACM) visited the Norwegian city of Trondheim to get to know first-hand the innovations and learnings that Trondheim City Council has implemented in municipal public management. The president of the ACM, Meritxell Budó, took part in the trip; the vice president and mayor of Molins de Rei, Xavi Paz; the vice president and mayor of Sant Climent de Llobregat, Isidre Sierra; the vice president and mayoress of Navarcles, Alba Pérez; the vice president and mayor of Rialp, Gerard Sabarich; the vice president and mayor of Sort, Baldo Farré; the mayor of Vilassar de Mar, Laura Martínez; the assistant general secretary of the ACM, Sergi Penedès; and City Management Chair members Alexander Heichlinger and Marta Pascal.

Mr. Roar Aas, the accidental mayor, and the manager of Trondheim City Council, Mr. Morten Wolden, received the Catalan delegation. The first two days of the trip were dedicated to training and exchange of experiences while the third day was dedicated to institutional contacts between the Chair, the ACM and the Norwegian municipal entity to explore new agreements regarding good municipal practices.

The city of Trondheim, with about 280,000 inhabitants, is the third largest city in Norway and, apart from being one of the institutions that collaborates with the chair, it is a pioneer in the development and implementation of creative and responsible leadership in cities, combining it with energy efficient and neutral initiatives.
During the visit, the delegation had the opportunity to know the different innovations in municipal management that the city of Trondheim has developed, as well as different projects developed with the University of Trondheim on public-private collaboration, participatory initiatives, sustainability and artificial intelligence projects.
