El Campus Treball is the application through which internship and job offers are posted and internship agreements are managed.
Registration is obligatory in order to host student internships and post internship and job offers.
Download the User's manual for organisations to know how the application works.
- How do I access it?

Internships
- What is the difference between curricular and extracurricular internships?
Curricular internships are included in the curricula with the corresponding allocation of credits, regardless of whether they are mandatory or optional.
- Do I have to meet any requirements to be able to host students for internships?
- Public and private enterprises, institutions, and entities at the state and international level can formalise internship agreements.
- You must have a tutor with the appropriate knowledge to train, monitor and evaluate the student.
- You must be paid up with Career Services.
- You must not be in a temporary labour force adjustment plan that affects the department or unit where the student would do their internship.
- You must comply at all times with the regulations in force regarding student placement in internships.
- Can I offer an internship to someone who has already completed his or her studies?
Students may do internships until the last day of the academic year in which they are enrolled. If the student is not enrolled at UPF because they have already completed their studies, the academic relationship with the university has ended and therefore it is not possible to formalise internship agreements, as this is an exclusively academic activity.
Current legislation requires the person be enrolled at the university for the academic year in which the internship would take place.
- Is the student entitled to vacation time?
As this is a non-employment relationship, the student does not earn the right to paid time off. However, the collaborating entity may agree with the student on some days off, which must be specified in the internship proposal application.
- What should be done in the event of illness, indisposition or an accident?
In the event that the student is ill and unable to do the internship, he/she should contact the entity's tutor. The entity must inform the student of its internal procedure on what to do in these cases.
It is not mandatory to make up uncompleted hours.
- How long can internships last? How many hours per day can the student do?
The internship schedule must be consistent with the student's academic obligations to attend classes and seminars. In addition, there is a maximum of 800 internship hours per academic year, 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week that cannot be exceeded.
- Can internships be remote?
Yes. The entity must agree on the internship model with the student (in person, remote, or a combination of the two).
- How does COVID-19 affect internships?
Appropriate action in response to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak should be taken, following the University's guidelines.
If the health authorities determine that internships cannot be carried out in person at a particular time, the parties may agree to continue the process remotely, without needing to modify the agreement.
Study aid and economic costs
- What are the economic costs of hosting students for internships?
The student must receive a minimum study aid of 6.30 euros/hour (gross).
The Career Services, faculty, department secretarial offices and the professors appointed as internship tutors are involved in the organisation and development of an internship. These tasks, generate costs for the university, which are reverted to the host entities. The amount is determined by the Economic Commission of the University’s Social Council, as set out in Article 14(1) of the UPF Bylaws and Regulations.
We inform you about the costs for the organization and development of the internships of UPF students.
- If I am a start-up, do I get any kind of discount?
Students who do internships in a start-up must receive the stipulated minimum study aid of 6.30 Euros gross per hour.
Start-ups incorporated less than 2 years at the time they request the internship will be exempted from the management costs.
- Is payment required before posting an offer?
No. Posting offers (both internships and jobs) is a free service
Social Security and personal income tax (IRPF)
- Do I have to enrol the student in Social Security?
Yes. Any time there is a remunerated internship or there is a consideration in kind (transportation passes, etc.) the entity must enrol the student in Social Security, regardless of whether it is a curricular or extracurricular internship.
Find out the distribution and monthly expenses borne by each party (see the "Average Contribution for Training and Learning Contracts" table).
However, the Social Security contribution for remunerated curricular internships is 100% subsidised, in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree Law 8/2014, of 4 July.
- Are internships subject to personal income tax (IRPF) withholding?
In the case of paid internships, the study aid received by the student is considered a scholarship or study aid. Spain’s Tax Agency considers this remuneration as income from work and it is therefore subject to withholding according to the criteria set forth in the tax regulations. The entity must apply a minimum personal income tax retention of 2%.
