Coordinator of Data Mining and Data Integration in Biomedicine
Janet Piñero is a postdoctoral researcher in the Integrative Biomedical Informatics (IBI) group at the IMIM-UPF joint Research Programme on Biomedical Informatics (GRIB).
Janet obtained her PhD in Biomedicine in the Pompeu Fabra University in 2015, supervised by Dr. Laura Furlong at the Department of Experimental and Health Sciences, at Universitat Pompeu Fabra. She got her Bachelor Degree in Biochemistry in 2001, at the Biology School at Havana University. After graduating, she was trained and as a researcher and as a teacher in several subjects in Havana University.
Her main research interest is translational medicine and she works developing computational tools and algorithms to tackle different biomedical questions, such as the genetic underpinnings of human diseases and the molecular mechanisms underlying drug adverse reactions.
