• Bioinformatics is a challenging field, requiring working knowledge of different disciplines.

    There are two kind of candidates profiles:

    • Students with a degree in Biological and Health sciences ( Biology, Medicine, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, etc...)
    • Students with a degree in Computer Science, Engineering and basic scientific disciplines (Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics)

    Candidates should be interested on the development and application of computational tools which are useful in biomedical field.

  • In the candidate selection procedure the following criteria are applicable:

    • Academic record, assessed in accordance with UPF’s academic record assessment regulations (50% of the evaluation).

    • Suitability of the candidate’s profile to the goals and content of the master’s programme (40% of the evaluation). The assessment of the candidate’s suitability will be based on:

      • A motivation letter (maximum of 600 words in English) in which the candidate outlines his/her suitability for the Master and his/her professional goals.

      • The content of an academic or professional reference written by someone who knows the candidate well and can provide a detailed assessment of him/her.

    • Additional academic training or professional experience in the areas related to the master’s programme (10% of the evaluation).

     

 

Acces and admission processes and application dates are standard for all the UPF master's degrees.

1. Check the admission requirements and documentation you will need

  • Master in Bioinformatics for Health Sciences

    • MANDATORY DOCUMENTS
       
      • Official undergraduate degree/diploma (or a bachelor's degree, a degree in engineering or architecture, diplomas, technical engineering and technical architecture diplomas, or, for foreign qualifications, the equivalent qualification awarded by an accredited higher education institution). Qualifications can be in the following academic areas: Biology, Medicine, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Pharmacy, Veterinary studies, engineering studies, Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics or related degrees.
      • Academic transcript of the accredited official training with the average grade at the university of origin.
      • Curriculum Vitae in English.
      • A letter of motivation in English, stating the candidate's interest in following the master's programme (400 to 600 words).
      • A (professional or academic) letter of recommendation signed by someone who really knows the candidate and can assess them. 
      In order to optimise the treatment and security of the recommendation letters, the candidate will have to request those via the online application system, where he/she will need to indicate the e-mail adress of the person/the persons he/she wishes to be recommended by. That person will receive an e-mail indicating that the candidate wishes a recommenation letter from him/her. The letter will be uploaded by the referee in the online application system. Non-institutional addresses such as *yahoo, *gmail, *hotmail, etc... will not be accepted.
      • Identity Card or Passport.

      • Proof of English language (level B2) PDF document
      • Professional experience in any of the fields related to the master's programme.
      • Research experience.
      • Teaching experience.
      • Additional academic training in areas related to the master's programme.
      • Additional professional experience.

       

      The undergraduate degree/diploma and the academic transcript 

      If you have finished your Bachelor degree when you formalise your application, you will need to send us the following documents:

      • A photocopy of your undergraduate degree/diploma or certification/proof of degree completion.
      • A photocopy of your official final undergraduate transcript.

      However, if you have not yet completed your undergraduate studies when formalising application, you will need to provide us with the following documents:

      • A signed declaration of obtaining your degree before the commencement of the master's programme
      • A photocopy of the provisional undergraduate transcript. 
      If the diploma or the academic transcript are not written in Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Portuguese or Italian, you will also have to include the respective sworn translations into Catalan or Spanish.

    Fee

    • Students UE: 2.906,4 €
    • Non UE students: 5,749.8 € € (1 academic year)
