Universitat Pompeu Fabra (Coordinator)  is a public university created in the city of Barcelona in 1990. It has a strong dedication to excellence in research and teaching. It is the top-ranked Spanish university (THE18 position 135 worldwide and 60 in Europe), 11th highest ranked young university worldwide and 5th among young universities in the world that progress most quickly (THE18). The ICT Department at UPF features 25 research groups and has an outstanding track record of active participation in EU projects. It is one of the few Spanish ICT departments that has been awarded the research seal of Excellence Maria de Maeztu for the quality and relevance of its pioneering scientific research, and for having the top ICT research concentration in Spain. With regard to the Department of Economics and Business, it has evolved since UPF’s founding in 1990 into a leading center for research and teaching. It ranks among the most outstanding departments in Europe and brings together an international community of more than 20 different nationalities.

The Universitat Rovira i Virgili (partner) is a modern public higher education institution with a proud and widely recognised track record in providing teaching and research at the service of Southern Catalonia and also much further afield on the international stage.  CRISES group holds the Unesco Chair in Data Privacy and has an outstanding record in security and privacy. It participates in several projects to implement security for the IoT. It will contribute to the proposal with its infrastructure of research activities in the topic, which will be open to the ESRs, by offering short term research visits and organizing a school on privacy for the IoT.

Its members work together to develop the best prototypes and ideas for businesses and public administrations, solving problems and addressing new challenges of the industry and society. Caelum Labs will participate as: a) offering secondment opportunities and collaboration with Alastria, the biggest blockchain related network in Spain (involving several big  companies ) b) offering consultancy on the state-of-the art of Blockchain Technology and the Alastria Platform, c) Participation in workshops and events organized by the company, d) contribution to the supervisory board, advising on skill training and research for the Blockchain Technology, in order to maximize the impact of the training in the career development of the researchers.
