UNIMIB UNIVERSITA' DEGLI STUDI DI MILANO-BICOCCA

The Department of Psychology at the University of Milano-Bicocca, established in 1999 within a newly founded university, carries forward the legacy of the Institute of Psychology from the Faculty of Arts and Philosophy at the State University of Milan, initiated post-World War I by Cesare L. Musatti. Under the direction of Giuseppe Mosconi, who founded the Faculty of Psychology in 1998 and the Department in 1999, it successfully merged diverse research lines into a unified scientific project that blends basic, clinical, and applied research. This interdisciplinary approach contributes to a comprehensive understanding of the mind. Reestablished on October 1, 2012, following the approval of the new University Statute, the Department has grown both scientifically and in size over approximately fifteen years, becoming one of the most prestigious psychological departments in Italy. From its original 17 members, it has expanded to 79 current members, along with dozens of researchers and doctoral students, making it the largest psychology department in Italy.
