ECERM ha sido fundado por cuatro historiadores del Departamento de Humanidades de la Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF), que han contribuido a renovar el estudio de las etnografías de la época moderna, los encuentros inter-culturales y la historia de las misiones religiosas en los imperios ibéricos. Al mismo tiempo contamos con miembros externos que regularmente cooperan con el grupo.
ECERM International Workshop: The Boxer Codex - Colonial Ethnography in the Spanish Philippines
ECERM ha organizado un workshop internacional dedicado al Boxer Codex que contará con la participación de George Bryan Souza (University of Texas at San Antonio), Manel Ollé (UPF-ECERM), Joan-Pau Rubiés (ICREA-UPF-ECERM), Isaac Donoso (Universitat d'Alacant) y Chen Tsung-jen (Academia Sinica).
