Conversation exhange on a language tandem basis is a free-time, non-academic activity; therefore, it doesn't give any credits and does not entitle to any kind of certificate. In language tandems two UPF students with different mother tongues --a Catalan UPF student, on the one hand, and an international student at UPF, on the other hand-- meet to make a linguistic and cultural exchange. The aim of language tandems is that international students can learn and practise Catalan and/or Spanish and become familiar with Catalonia, its language and its culture, whereas Catalan students can learn and practise any other language and internationalize themselves. Participation in the language tandem scheme is independent of any university-run language course, and both partners reciprocally agree where and how often they will meet and the way of exchanging and practising each other's language. 

Who may apply for a language partner?

Language tandems are open to all UPF students, including those students in institutions having an agreement with UPF, and also to members of administrative staff and teaching staff at Pompeu Fabra University. No applications will be accepted from people from outside UPF.

Before applying for a language partner, be sure that you really feel like doing so and that you are ready to invest in it an appropriate amount of your time (not less than one or two hours a week) throughout the term.
