The Linguistics Research Unit (UR-Ling) brings together the research done in linguistics at UPF that focuses on general questions such as the following: What is the structure and use of language like, both in its signed and in its spoken modalities? How is language acquired? How does language evolve over time? What does the mind tell us about language and vice versa? How can language be modeled computationally? UR-Ling aims to foster communication and cross-fertilization among the various groups that compose the research unit by organizing activities and events such as the yearly workshop in which doctoral students from the different groups present their ongoing research.
