Abstract:

Some hearing parents choose to learn a natural sign language to interact with their deaf children, despite all-too-often being discouraged by medical and educational professionals. What leads them to make such a choice? What is their experience as sign language learners? How do they approach the task of bringing sign language into their family? This presentation reports interviews with hearing families to learn more about their attitudes and experiences.

The event will be held in English. LSC interpretation will be provided.

This conference is free but you have to register.
