The SIGN-HUB project is articulated into four work packages:

Coordination and management

UPF is in charge of ensuring the scientific and administrative coordination of the SIGN-HUB project. For this purpose, it oversees the research carried out, it is in contact with the Steering Committee and also with the European Commission, supervises the administrative management of the project and is supported by the Ethics Committees for supervision of the ethical aspects of research.

The leaders of this work package are in charge of supervising and coordinating the research carried out in the four main tasks of the SIGN-HUB project: digital grammars of 6 sign languages, an atlas of linguistic structures of the world's sign languages, sign language assessment instruments for education and clinical intervention and a digital archive of life narratives by elderly signers.

 

Digital infrastructure

The objective of this WP is developing the digital infrastructures that will host the contents to be produced by WP2 and WP4. Specifically, a) a platform hosting multimedia contents, the grammars of sign languages and the language assessment tools will be created; b) customized interfaces will be implemented so that various types of final users may have full access to the contents; c) a reliable system to stream sign language video contents both on standard and portable devices will be implemented.The final product of this WP will be an open platform with customized interfaces.

This team is promoting public disclosure of results and actions to make the contents implemented in the digital platform highly visible within the scientific community and among stakeholders (Deaf signers, sign language interpreters, professionals working with Deaf signers).
