A researcher or research group should plan to attend scientific events (congresses, meetings, seminars) or even organize them, an aspect that should be expressed in the research report or project. A congress is a major event, which aims to gather contributions in the form of invited papers from leading specialists in the field and communications open to the entire scientific community and subject to prior evaluation processes, so that only the best papers are accepted.

There are other events that are no less interesting or productive for having fewer participants. Seminars, which focus on very specific aspects, are a smaller format, as are workshops, in which participation is by invitation. So are the meetings of the research group itself, to discuss strategies, tools or concepts, which can give rise to interesting documents, as we will see later. It should be remembered that in these latter formats consensus methods can be applied, such as expert panels or nominal group techniques.
