The University master's degree in Research in Social Communication, which has a marked international outlook, aims to train researchers specifically in the field of social communication, providing them with a solid base of research methods and the tools to ascertain the main trends in the field of research in communication. The Master's degree programme has students from several continents: Europe, America and Asia, and its subjects are mainly taught in Spanish, though there is some content in English and Catalan.

We aim for our students to gain knowledge of the trends in cutting-edge methods and research lines in the world and we prioritize knowledge of the most relevant bibliography. Our students are expected to follow these trends and the researchlines and research groups of Pompeu Fabra University's Department of Communication.

The Master's degree programme, in line with the most successful models of postgraduate research studies in communication at the world's most prestigious universities, comprises a structure of compulsory methodological subjects covering the whole range of social and human science techniques applied to the study of communication.

It also offers a wide spectrum of optional subjects that describe the breakthroughs and trends taking place in the central issues of communication and, concretely, those in which our department is a leader. The programme prepares our students so that they can later pursue doctoral studies and/or their doctoral thesis.
