About this master
Why choose this program?
The master's programme in Biomedical Research is focused on the study of the molecular, cellular, physiological and evolutionary foundations of biological processes and their pathological or adaptive alterations. It is primarily, although not exclusively, aimed at students seeking to pursue doctoral studies in different areas of biomedicine.
This is a program recognized with the highest rating by the quality agencies of our university system.
The programme's main objective is to help students acquire advanced conceptual and experimental knowledge of the molecular and cellular foundations for cellular processes and dysfunctions involved in physiological function and disease and to teach them to apply this knowledge to basic and biomedical research.
We would like to emphasize two distinctive characteristics of this master:
1) the master in Biomedical Research is fully taught in English, and
2) Students in this master can dedicate their full time to their master projects from early January to the end of June, without interference from classes during this period.
Who is it for?
Candidates will typically hold an undergraduate degree in biology, biochemistry or biotechnology. However, students with undergraduate degrees in medicine, chemistry, engineering, pharmacy and nursing have also successfully completed the programme. Students must have a solid grounding in and/or ability to grasp and work with the concepts of cell function and molecular interactions (proteins, nucleic acids). Students with degrees in areas other than the biological and health sciences who are interested in applying to the programme are encouraged to look at the subject syllabus.
Career prospects
More than 80% of the students who complete this master's degree continue on to a doctoral programme, either in Spain or abroad (mainly EU and USA).
