UPF participates in a study on the expectations of teaching staff about Learning Analytics.

The UPF, within the framework of its Learning Lab and in collaboration with the TIDE research group, invites its teaching staff to participate in a short survey in order to obtain information about their expectations as teaching staff about learning analytics. This term refers to the collection, analysis and reporting of (digital) data on learning activities carried out (in whole or in part) through virtual environments, in order to understand and optimize such learning and the environments in which it occurs. The growing availability of digital data has boosted interest in this line of research, but its adoption is still a minority in institutions. Given that teachers will be one of the main users of learning analytics, it is very important to take their opinions and expectations into account during the design and implementation of the different services developed. This survey is part of a study that is also being carried out in other Spanish universities, and is aligned with similar studies carried out in European and Latin American universities.

The results of the survey will be used for possible purposes of research, dissemination, and development of learning analytics policies within the framework of the SNOLA project (Spanish Thematic Network of Learning Analytics) financed by the State Research Agency of the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities and the European Regional Development Fund. The results might also inform the potential evolution of the use of learning analytics at UPF.

The network is coordinated by the University of Valladolid (UVa) with the participation of 7 other Spanish universities: University of León (ULe), University of Vigo (UVigo), University of the Basque Country (UPV), Autonomous University of Madrid (UAM) , Polytechnic University of Madrid (UPM), National University of Distance Education (UNED) and Pompeu Fabra University (UPF).
