Preamble 

The EDvolució educational framework aims to improve the learning of our students, generating deeper, more lasting learning and more committed to society

Educational research is providing increasing evidence on the relevance of preparation tasks for better future learning. Future learning tasks are those that prepare the student for new learning and are done before direct instruction from teachers. They usually involve the activation by the student of prior knowledge, the exploration of new ideas, the appearance of a confusing problem or a productive failure that will promote significant learning in future clarifying and consolidating tasks. Some examples of preparation tasks for future learning are reading and viewing videos prior to class sessions (responding to the format of the flipped classroom methodology), identifying problems, reviewing examples, or understanding concepts before working on them in the classroom

The implementation of EDvolució in the learning plans of the subjects considers the relevant role of future learning activities. At the same time, the institutional EDvolució research within the framework of the Learning Laboratory/ UPF Learning Lab, also wants to contribute to the generation of more knowledge in this line to be partly responsible for the improvement of teaching.

 

Objective

The objective of this initiative is to coordinate the participation of UPF faculty in the EDvolució institutional research to work on the design of future learning activities and their impact on improving student learning at UPF. This research is coordinated by the UPF Learning Lab.

Tasrget People

To participate you must be a UPF PDI:

  • Who participate or has participated in the EDvolució program
  • Who are already doing or plan to propose preparation tasks for futurp learning in their respective subjects, and that they plan to participate in the EDvolució program soon
 

Execution period

During 2022-2023 academic year.

 

Recognition

​​A recognition of participation in a research project on teaching will be granted. Teachers who generate open material will receive a symbolic reward, depending on the number of participants. Students who voluntarily participate in the discussion groups will receive a symbolic reward.  

Participation request procedure

To request participation in this call, in the case of:

  1. PDI participating in the EDvolució program, it is not necessary to attach any documentation
  2. PDI who are already carrying out or plan to propose future learning preparation tasks in their subjects, it is necessary to attach a description of the proposed future learning preparation tasks (free format)

Application from May 18th to June 15th, 2022

 

Selection

The selection will be made by the committee of experts from the UPF Learning Lab which will be made up of between two and four PDI members from UPF, an external person with experience in the field of educational innovation research, a representative person of the local agents in the field of education and the competent person in the task of the management of the Learning Lab.
The selection criteria of the participants will be a prioritization according to the adequacy of the proposal of preparation tasks for future learning in accordance with the definition of this typology of tasks as formulated in this call for participation, and that its implementation is planned for the 2022-2023 academic year.
