The entrepreneurs’ trade show 4 Years From Now (4YFN) will serve as the showcase for ten entrepreneurial initiatives that have emerged from UPF. Three R&D spin-offs and projects (based on research conducted at the University) and seven startups (companies set up by members of the university community) will present their projects at the UPF stand between 28th February and 1st March, in an event hosted by the Fira Gran Via in Barcelona.

4YFN is Europe’s leading event in the fields of innovation and entrepreneurship. Organised by the mobile communications association, GSMA, within the framework of the Mobile World Congress (MWC), the exhibition is aimed at fostering connections between emerging enterprises, investors and companies.

"We are exhibiting a selection of projects that have the potential to grow and generate wealth, which we hope will attract members of the innovative ecosystem looking for opportunities to collaborate and invest”, asserted the vice-rector for Knowledge Transfer at UPF, Eulàlia de Nadal. An institutional delegation from UPF, led by the rector, Oriol Amat, will visit the 4YFN on 1st March.

At the UPF stand (number 6D57A, located in hall 6) there will be space for the following R&D spin-offs and projects:

  • Medbioinformatics Solutions: aims to facilitate the use of genomic information in biomedicine. The company offers a platform called DISGENET plus which uses artificial intelligence and genetic information for precision medicine applications.
  • KOA Biotech: offers an in situ solution for the continuous monitoring for the presence of pathogens in the water at fish farms. As a result, early warnings can be given to prevent possible infections.
  • SkyNote: is a music learning application based on artificial intelligence and the real-time analysis of sound and movement. This tool helps students to detect and correct mistakes, improve their technique and practice more efficiently.

The following start-ups will also be at the fair:

  • GameSquare: have created a platform specialised in gaming products and collectors’ items that allows users to buy or sell instantly.
  • EXPAI: offer a solution for explaining the predictions of artificial intelligence models, increasing their efficiency and identifying possible biases to increase user trust.
  • Cofi: their financial and strategic planning IT tool enables companies to add and process information from different sources and produce forecasts automatically.
  • Parallel: have developed a collaborative platform for the automation of codeless legal and back-office tasks, which helps to reduce email chains to manage processes with documents.
  • GoGreen: is a tokenised app for promoting more sustainable urban mobility that rewards good behaviour through a system of incentives.
  • B THE BEACH BRAND: this company designs, products and sells sustainable swimwear for women using regenerated fabrics.
  • VONZU: is an SaaS platform for managing last mile deliveries that helps retailers and transport companies to control deliveries and returns.

All UPF projects participating at the 4YFN are in the process of attracting investment to drive their growth.
