Moot competitions are extracurricular activities held at many law schools around the world in which students participate in simulated legal proceedings, which include the writing of “memorials” and the oral defense of their positions. The competitions pit two groups of students, represented by a speaker, against each other, who must present their arguments to a jury composed of professionals of recognized prestige in the world of law. Traditionally, these competitions have been closer to Anglo-Saxon culture than to “civil law”, but more and more law schools are participating, selecting students at both undergraduate and master’s levels.

Additional information

  • Students selected to represent our faculty at both Jessup and Moot Madrid, and who have participated in the competition, will be able to validate the subject TFG (Final Degree Project) or TFM (Final Master's Project, only in the case of the UPF-BSM university master's degree in law).
  • Their academic record will include the topic/title of the competition, the specification that they have been a selected student and the grade awarded by their tutor.
  • The Faculty of Law assumes and manages all travel, accommodation and material expenses for tutors and students who ultimately participate in the competitions, in the different phases in which they may qualify.
