The Commoning practices course is developed in the framework of the Erasmus project KA203-CC093835 "Blended Short-cycle Training Courses on 'Commoning' practices" and will involve four students from each of the participating institutions: University of Thessaly (Greece), University of Cadiz and Pompeu Fabra University (Spain) as well as TalTelch University of Tallinn (Estonia).

The Commoning practices course offers a training proposal around the paradigm of the commons from a sociological, communication and technology perspective. Pedagogically, it promotes peer education, active participation, peer to peer and the collective creation of knowledge. The theoretical and practical training is interdisciplinary, offered in English and in blended learning (eight weeks online and one week in Lisbon)

The lessons are distributed in 9 Modules, an introductory and a final session, corresponding to 20 hours of non-face-to-face training, which can be distributed by the students at the rate of two or three lessons per week. The non face-to-face training will be offered through the virtual platform of the Erasmus+ KA201 Blended Short-cycle Training Courses on 'Commoning Practices' project, while the face-to-face teaching week will consist of 30 hours of practical training at Instituto Politecnico de Lisboa (IPL), Lisbon, Portugal, distributed in 6 hours/day, the week of 27 March to 31 March 2023.

Objectives

-To know, develop and apply the logic of the commons.

-To become aware of inequalities and enhance the values of interculturality, gender equality and tolerance through the educational commons.

-To reflect on the role of the media in the construction of social imaginaries.

-Improve research, digital, communicative and social skills, using the logic of the commons to improve collaboration and content creation.

Programme

Introductory Module: The Commons in Education

Module 1: Experimentalism, Democracy and Educational Commons

Module 2: Care, risk, community and educational commons

Module 3: Contexts of change in childhood and youth in a globalised world

Module 4: Conflict resolution, decision-making processes and communication skills.

Module 5: Intercultural and intergenerational communication and community.

Module 6: Media and commons imaginary.

Module 7: Technology and peer-to-peer commoning practices.

Module 8: Platforms and educational tools of commoning.

Module 9: Identities and risks in a digitised commonsverse.

Prerequisite: Students at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, preferably on master's or doctoral programmes.

Number of places available: 4

Participants will benefit from:
- Free registration to the course
- Round-trip flight tickets to Lisbon (arranged by UPF)
- Travel expenses up to a maximum of 348 euros per person

Selection criteria: Applications will be evaluated by the ComPra project team according to the criteria established in the project framework, considering the potential to enhance the paradigm of the commons in the professional and academic development of the candidate. Average grade of academic transcript (50%) Cover letter, preferably in English (50%) Minimum accreditation B2 in English.
