The MA in Social Communication Research is offering one teaching assistant scholarship for students enrolled on the MA in Social Communication Research  in the 2018-2019 academic year.

The student may teach, under the supervision of a professor, seminars or practical classes in undergraduate studies and may take part in teaching assistance tasks, up to a maximum of 60 teaching hours per year in a face-to-face context. Additionally, the student may provide support to the department's research or that of research groups with similar research lines.

Amount of the scholarship: €1001,17 gross monthly income. This scholarship is exempt from IRPF (Personal Income Tax). It does not cover the registration fee.

Eligibility: Students admitted, or students who have reserved their place, in the master's programme for the first time in 2018-2019. Students must enrol on a full-time basis. Students will be required to have a NIE and Social Security by the time of formalizing the scholarship.

6/ Original and photocopy or certified copy of proof of English skills. In order to be assessed as a merit, the documents have to be originals or certified photocopies.

7/ Certification of previous teaching experience in Communication. In order to be assessed as a merit, the documents have to be originals or certified photocopies.

Waiver decision:

The evaluation committee is made up of: Núria Almiron Roig (master's programme coordinator), Carles Singla Caselles (Dean) and Carles Pont Sorribes (Deputy Director of Postgraduate Studies).

The evaluation committee will also use the following documents submitted by the candidate for the admission to the MA in International Studies on Media, Power and Difference :

  • Undergraduate degree granting access to the master's programme (it does not count toward the grading) 
  • Undergraduate transcript indicating the average mark from the awarding university(3 points)
  • Suitability for the profile in Communication and/or Social Sciences (2 points) 
  • Suitability for the researching profile: written presentation and curriculum vitae (2 points)
  • Having previous experience as teaching or research assistant, or having previous professional experience in areas related to this master's programme (2 points)
  • Letters of recommendation submitted upon admission (1 point)

Deadline to resolve the waiver: the final decision will be published by mid September on this website.

Incompatibilities: The waiver is not compatible with any other waiver or scholarship, whether public or private, awarded for the same purpose or with any other grant awarded by this master's programme.

 

Observations:

In case the transcript does not include the weighted mark, the mark will be considered to be 1 by default.

If upon application you still had to complete your undergraduate studies, in the Tutorial Session you will have to submit the following:

-      Original and photocopy or certified copy of undergraduate degree.

-      Undergraduate degree transcript granting access to the master's programme: Original and photocopy or certified copy. Students who have taken official studies at UPF do not need to provide the transcript.

The final award of the scholarship is subject to full-time enrolment on the programme and verification of all documents submitted during the application process. Therefore, in the Tutorial Session you will have to submit the original and photocopy or certified copy of the documentation submitted upon application.
