This conference, divided into two sessions, aims to open up a space for reflection on water and fluid corporealities in cinema and the contemporary arts from the perspective of the new materialist feminisms. Throughout the two sessions, we will rethink the agency of fluid bodily matter and explore how orifices, openings, excess, abjection and bodily overflow are aesthetically and politically resignified. Likewise, we will investigate the potentialities offered by aquatic environments for questioning the boundaries between bodies and surroundings, incorporating more-than-human perspectives that invite us to recognise ourselves as part of a shared hydric network connecting us through flows and waters.
