Throughout this academic year the figure of Joaquim Jordà has gained special prominence in the Communication Campus of the UPF. To the complete cycle of commented screenings of his films and the parallel exhibition "Discovering Joaquim Jordà" we now add the research and debate seminar "Joaquim Jordà: validity and legacy". This seminar proposes an open discussion on the current relevance of his work based on four interrelated axes: a) the study of singular aspects of his filmography, both in dialectic with the context of his original creation and with its current reception; b) the reflection on the mediating and activist character of Jordà's creative action as a first-rate contribution to the critical revitalization of the public space; c) the influence that his mastery exerts in an increasingly expansive way on new generations of filmmakers; and d) the role that criticism and research play in the construction of a dynamic thought, projected into the future, in relation to the validity and legacy of his work.

Monday, March 20

Tuesday, March 21st

9.30 a.m.: Lecture: "Joaquim Jordà and the disobedience of images". Mateus Araújo Silva (Universidade de São Paulo).

10.15 a.m.: Dialogue: "Jordà and contemporary cultural creation: a territory for cultural action". 12.00 h: Lecture: "Presences and resonances in Joaquim Jordà's documentary until the eighties". Laura Gómez Vaquero (University of Salamanca).

12.45: Dialogue. "Jordà's legacy in contemporary documentary cinema". Beatriz Comella (independent researcher), Vanesa Fernández (director of ZINEBI festival), Laia Manresa (University of Barcelona), Àngel Quintana (University of Girona).
