The concept of visual motif refers to an iconographic pattern of cultural representation that is transmitted and reinterpreted through the history of images and that fosters narrative and emotional recognition. The MUMOVEP-funded research project of the CINEMA group is based on the premise that the images that embody the representations of power in the media and other instances of the public sphere are articulated through visual motifs. At a time of great acceleration of changes in some of the axes of the public sphere - gender identities, forms of representation of war, artificial intelligence - it is essential to delve into the connection between the present and the past to refine analysis methodologies. The International Symposium “Methodologies and mutations of visual motifs”, organized within the framework of MUMOVEP, addresses the theoretical, methodological aspects and analysis of contemporary mutations of visual motifs in the public sphere.
